I just realised - a 38 ft motor home is longer than my living room and dining room put together!

They are not very wide though about 11 or 12 feet.

Our motorhome has 2 slides....one which makes the LR 14'...and another for the BR. Still feels compact to me! But amazingly we seem to have got everything we could possibly need for a 5 month 'awa frae haeme'....and still there are a few corners I can shove things we accumulate along the way!
Ours is by no means considered huge....there are others much bigger and with 4 slides!
Anyway, the odyssey continues today...just about to leave Arkansas...it is 9 a.m.....and we will drive a couple of hours due south towards Jackson, Mississippi.....and then a couple of hours west and see where that gets us. We think tonight we may spend the night in a Walmart parking lot, rather than a campground. Proximity to a grocery et al store is a factor. This is call 'boondocking' or 'drycamping' because one does not hook up to water etc. But - most rigs are completely self-contained, as is ours. We will have power from our internal generator. We have full white water tank....and empty black water tank! Some people travel completely across the country this way.....costs nowt.
Walmart is an RV campers Oasis.....they encourage responsible one-night stands, because they know you'll spend money in the store. Win-win.
Onwards, chaps!

Latest from Sue

Travelled a long way today and finally arrived in Texas where we will spend the next week. We travelled through Mississippi, Louisiana and arrived at our resting spot at 8 p.m. tonight. Looking forward to a looong sleep! I have read 3.5 books in the last few days as a break from watching the scenery

So interesting to pass through all these states...all so different in topography. My imagination took many trips as we passed miles of cotton fields in Mississippi and Louisiana...
Crossed over the Tallahatchie River and once more questioned the age old question : What was it that Billy Joe McAllister threw off the Tallahatchie Bridge??
Enjoyed real southern food at a truck stop...southern fried chicken, sweet potato pie, pulled pork and cornbread. And the next day a scrumptious pulled crabmeat and artichoke casserole with cllard greens, with sweet tea.
Weather is great here in Texas where we have decided to stay for a week so my chauffeur can rest up for the next 1000 mile drive to Arizona.

Long ways from Briercliffe but so enjoyable. It's the kind of thing I used to dream about when we took our little 19' trailer caravan to France for 4 weeks each summer. Then you'd see the odd one or two huge great Winnibagos that made us feel like paupers. Just imagine how long it would take to springclean your 'house'. Take a lot of self-discipline tho for a hoarder like me!
