On the road again: left Mesa.Arizona on Friday morning...spent first night in the parking lot (free!) at the Fantasy Springs Casino....went inside to watch Canada win the hockey men's semi final against Slovakia...Yay!!

Saturday: continuing through California.....Palm Desert (travelled along Frank Sinatra Blvd) to Palm Springs, through San Bernardina, Cocamunga (yep..you heard me!), Pasadena, Los Angeles (no, Schyler, did not see any 'stars'!), and through the Ventura valley....gorgeous lush orchards and vegetable/fruit farms. Poured rain...husband very stressed!!

Saturday night: Carpenteria State Park...right on the beach. Big winds, huge waves, torrential rain! I slept like a log....Robert lucky to get one hour!

Sunday morning: sunny and warm...I can smell the ocean! Travelled on through Montecito, Santa Barbara, to Pismo...found our RV park and met up with Robert's sister and hubby who have driven down from San Jose for the week. Finally have WiFi, so can communicate again!!

Monday: to San Luis Obispo...a lovely small quaint town...established in 1772 by Spanish priests...mission still standing and very beautiful. Keisha loving the beach...running around at the end of a long leash with ears flying and tongue flapping in the breeze! Gorgeous sunset over the ocean.....

Tuesday a.m.: RAIN

Yesterday was a good day.....Victor and Brenda picked us up and we drove around the beautiful California farm, orchard, and vineyard areas near here. Soooo gorgeous. Found a really lovely park and campground in a valley with a lake....(note for future reference!). This is truly like paradise!

Drove to a small town called Solvang. It is like being transported to Denmark....all buildings are quaint and in Danish style, upmarket boutiques, ....and retailers are dressed in national costume! So nice to see such a community effort which brings in tourists (and obviously dollars) and keeps the economy bustling. ...I look forward to seeing other such delightful small towns along the California coast!!

Sunny today! Robert having some quality time walking on the beach with his sister....Yay!! Brenda and Victor have been amazing hosts to their part of this vast country!!

Sat on the beach most of the day today....Californians were all bundled up in their fleecies! Brisk sea breeze, but sunny and not a cloud in the blue, blue sky!!

Back on-line in our RV....Yay! Can continue with daily updates and also catch up on days mised. On leaving Oceano, California we drove the Ventura Freeway (coastal freeway)through Santa Barbara...and this time through the middle of Los Angeles...past Mulholland Drive,Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, through Burbank (saw Un...iversal Studios) Hollywood, Sunset Blvd..and Santa Monica Blvd. Did NOT see any film stars!!

Staying at www.delpueblorv.com Del Pueblo
RV Park and Tennis Resort, Yuma, Arizona. Very nice....small enough to be personal and friendly and big enough that there is lots to do. We like Arizona. Considering this place as a lont-term stay for next winter.

San Antonio...what a fun place to be! Just spent the evening at the RiverWalk, took a trip on the river boat, walked a lot, and finally found a place to eat! It is St. Pat's Day and Spring Break...so to say it was busy would be an understatment!!
http://visitsanantonio.com/visitors/pla ... dex.aspx...
Hot and sunny today.....more forecast. Tomorrow we will sunbathe and also take a short trip to see the famous site of "The Alamo"...I am a sucker for early American history!!

Another gloriously sunny and warm day in TX...! Puttering around, relaxing, sunbathing...! Will be leaving in the morning for Houston and then Livingstone TX...meandering homewards!!

Sunday: One word: AAAAAAaaaaaagggggghhhhhh! We are heading north in Texas...and it is snowing!! We overnighted in Texarkana....did not expect this!!

Last night: Driving on from Texarcana, Texas to Little Rock, Arkansas...lovely day today!! Staying in a whistle-stop RV park..all muddy and shabby (the park that is, not us)...we were desperate to stop for the night....just waiting for the duelling banjoes!!! All locked in and fed and cozy. Tomorrow to Memphis, Tennessee and GRAC...ELAND! Another once in a lifetime thing to do that I can tick off my 'bucket' list....

Just back from an afternoon with Elvis....visited Graceland at Memphis, Tennessee! I really thought it would be tacky...but it was not. Well worth the visit.Museum complex interesting....loved seeing the original contracts he signed....$25,000 for a movie in those days!! Loved him then..and still do!!

Took lots of photos...will post as time permits! LOTS to see...and, yes, the gift shops are everywhere and the souvenirs expensive - so bought none However, it is all well put together and I loved every minute of it!! Thanks, hon, for not complaining about being dragged around this place!!

Another mini adventure...just came back from a BBQ rack of ribs dinner with corn fritters, deep fried pickles, molasses baked beans, and coleslaw....delicious!! We left the chips (french fries) as we are watching our waistlines (LOL). We were taken and returned to our RV doorstep in a pink cadillac limousine!! Only in America!!

Thursday am - Here we are in Bowling Green, Kentucky....land of the Derby and we see horses everywhere ...paddocks and fields on either side of the highway! Great dog park in this campground..Keisha ran around like a mad dog! I love dog parks!

Thursday pm - Rain, rain, rain...all the way from Bowling Green Kentucky to Cincinnati, OHio. Miserable! We are happily and cozily snuggled in for the night at Oak Creek RV Park...everyone looks waterlogged! Sign that we are in North Country - craving hot toddy instead of cold beer!!

Yesterday - We made 348 miles today and are bedding down in Flint, Michigan.......only 280 miles to the Soo and then 45 minutes from there. Should be in our own home tomorrow night. Staying in a hotel tonight...too darn cold in the RV!

I have been very moved by the number of references in memory of Rosa Parks here in the states. In San Antonio I stopped in my tracks while boarding a local bus...all seats blue except on about 3 rows from the front. It was bright yellow with the inscription "In memory of Rosa Parks". Moments like this will stick with m...e forever!
http://www.hfmgv.org/exhibits/rosaparks/story.asp

....and we travelled along 2 major highways dedicated to her memory. She was small but mighty indeed!!

Weeee'rrre baaaaack! Tired but happy to be in our lovely home. It looked sooo nice and tidy because I'd left it ready for the realtor to show. Now we are trying not to mess it up! It was cute watching Keisha....she recognized the house and careened around with joy!...went out in the backyard and came and got Robert......took him by the hand and showed him her bone...from last October!!

Thanks, Gloria!! It was fun. Next time I am going to have a proper blog so I can upload photos and more detail as we go along.
The whole experience was very positive for us...and as soon as our house sells, we will be full-timers in the RV life. We may upgrade to a slightly roomier motorhome with more closet and drawer space in the bedroom...(I refuse to leave all my shoes and stuff behind!!)...and a different set-up for TV watching..(gotta have 2 y'know!)...but - all in good time.
And a big Thanks to our esteemed Spiderlady, Mel, for taking the time to catch my Facebook entries and post them here. I couldn't imagine that anyone would give a hoot about we gypsies...but she insisted! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Can't wait until our next winter jaunt...and, if you are still remotely interested... I'm sure we can pop it into here once more.
Cheers!

Ha!!
Good that I can oblige!
BY the way, I have uploaded 100 or so photos on my Facebook page...feel free to access anytime.
They are disorganized still, as I just uploaded willy-nilly and haven't had time yet to sort and file in any kind of logical sequence. (I'm a "let's jump in" kinda gal...not a detail oriented one!). My husband's photo gallery is labelled and in chronological order and, in a slide show, makes SENSE!
If you click on any photo in my FB gallery you'll find some photos are labelled and individuals 'tagged'.
Thanks again for the feedback...I was always afraid I was coming across as self-centred and arrogant, having my own thread in the forum!! (My hubby is very impressed by that, by the way!)
