Does anyone remember the chemist at the Mitre, right on the junction between Accrington Rd and Padiham Rd. It had lovely large coloured bottles in the window, all different sizes---I wonder what ever happened to them, or who had the shop?

I so do remember the Chemist at the Mitre. I used to love going in there. We lived on Trafalgar St for the first five years of my life. Then when we moved to the Lanehead area I used to go and visit my Grandma. I can't remember the name of the Chemist but my sister, who has a much better memory than me, might.
regards
Margaret

It was wonderful, polished wood counter, huge cupboards with glass windows, bottles galore and a mysterious aroma. I know that sounds a bit fanciful but that's my memory of it. I will ask my sister if she can recall the name and anything else about it. I can still see it in my minds eye. Across the road there was a small sweet and tobacco shop I thought that was a bit special too. Then there was the canteen on the corner of the street where Holy Trinity school was oh the delicious smell that used to come from there. Now look what you have done Gloria, set off the old memory box lol
best wishes
Margaret
ps wonder what our grandchildren will remember years down the line?

Has anyone been watching the Victorian Pharmacy on BBC? I have found it quite interesting - I'm sure you'll find it on iplayer.
