Not that anyone else will be searching for Yorkshire kin, but, the West Yorkshire Archives seem to have reduced the cost of searching and copying documents?
A couple of years ago it cost me £14 to get one document unearthed and copied. Today I have been told that it is currently 61p per copy and £3 search plus 80p postage? I have sent off the money for a decadent six documents to be copied and sent back. Next will be a phone call saying a trainee gave me the wrong info. :) but I live in hopes of finding my kin in Carleton in Craven . I've tried everywhere else!

  Oh this family are out to drive me round the bend ( and the bend does not seem to far off :!: )

I sent for and have just received the copy of the church records for the Family in Carleton in Craven.
Despite the records in Skipton saying a George Thistlethwaite was baptised there , married and died there, they have only found an entry for his marriage. I was so confident that an entry would have given his fathers name, when will I learn!!!!
But I suppose to be fair to the archivist the writing is so bad, a date in 1697 would easily be missed.

Ah well, I either give up, trail up to Leeds and see if I can spot the missing date.
I have a message on Carleton web to see if anyone can help, no takers yet. I also visited the churchyard this week and got soaked, passed a house that was selling plants for the Pakistan relief, bought some, OK all that she had ,and the house owner gave me a lift back into Skipton.
Plus the post office hasn't franked my envelope so I'm a stamp in credit :) there is a bright side after all.

:( Addiction is more like it, I get twitchy and grumpy and can't leave my computer for more than a few days without my symptoms getting worse!
