The Census, the official population count carried out by the Government, is to be scrapped after more than 200 years, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

I can see why it would be "inaccurate". Apparently 3 million people refused to fill in the 2001 edition.

Considering its primary use it to direct funds to areas that require them etc. then if people aren't filling them in, there's no real point for the government to fork out the costs. Sadly.

For it to be feasible you'd have to go back to the pre 1911 way of having someone going house to house asking the questions...

OK the article said 1.5m hadn't filled it in. I'd heard 3m previously though.
