The 1911 is available to search for free on the Familysearch website now. I'm not sure what use the results are though as, if you click to view image, it takes you to Findmypast and a subscription is required. I also don't know how much info you are given at Findmypast if you do not have a subscription....perhaps the results at familysearch are a little more detailed than what FMP shows at no cost??

Mel, according to the Lost Cousins newsletter, the FamilySearch 1911 index gives the person's place of birth, which the free part of FindMyPast doesn't.
