Ha ha funny.

“Mick and Bill were both wearing sleek jet-black 13-inch bottomed corduroy trousers from George Wraw's and I was sporting my latest crimson red and electric blue with silver and gold zig-zag lines tie from Chas Green's.”

And who do you think Van wrote "Gloria" about----she's about 5ft-4ins, hair a dark brown---poetic licence, I'm 5ft-6ins and hair fair-----in those days.
Crikey I didn't think we dressed like that.

It’s my step-brother Will. He is getting married in Ottawa so maybe I can stop in at Barrie to see the Calvert’s.

You should ask Aunt Josie to join the forum, she would like all this reminiscing

I love Ottawa, it's a beautiful city. But why oh why don't they have Mounties in proper uniforms with horses instead of disguising them as policemen in cars? I travelled 3000 miles to find one and there were none to be found. Maybe if I'd told them I was coming . . .
I spoke to Josie at weekend. Should have told her to get in here. Like you say, she loves reminiscing.

I have seen Mounties on horseback at the Parliament buildings. I wonder why you didn’t see any.

They told me they're only there on ceremonial occasions now. The first time we went there were none around. The second time we missed them by about half an hour.

They are too busy finding terrorists to be bothered with ceremonial duties.

The R.C.M.P. is a rural police force so you will usually find them outside the cities, although they don’t wear that red uniform and you don’t see them on horseback.

For those of us who remember the wonderful 60's and for those who don't who have seriously missed out

www.marmalade-skies.co.uk

Check out the year by year index.

All the dates for the Imp are mentioned

We are in a city on Vancouver Island and the RCMP do all the policing here.

Kris, do you remember when the RCMP came to Manitoba to do their show? We went with the Magura family and you would have been about 5 at the time. The RCMP were all dressed up in their red serge. And yes we did see them in Ottawa as well.

Talking about Mounties always reminds me of the Lumberjack Song.

Okay, I thought the city police were the only ones in the city.

Yes, I remember that, I was only little.

Have you read all these posts about the Imp?

My older sister wanted to go to the imp with her boyfriend to see the Beatles but my dad said she was too young and wouldn't let her go. I think he must have thought it was a den of iniquty and definitely too far to go by bus for an evening out. I don't think they had made their American tour yet had they? Otherwise, I don't think they would have been playing at the imp.

They had their American tour in 1965. My favourite Beatle was John, I have actually stood on the spot where he was shot outside his hotel overlooking Central Park in New York. There is a section of the park named Strawberry Fields in his honour, me and my other half were sat on a bench having a pepsi in Strawberry fields when who should walk past but Yoko, one of my claims to fame

Do you remember the balcony inside The Cats Whiskers, each table had a tablecloth and a little lamp, they had some good entertainment on there in it's heyday. I remember The Searchers, Dave Berry and even Vince Hill! Wonder what has happened to Vince Hill, I am showing my age

Stephanie.

Yeah, I remember Vince Hill! I also remember when Mat Munroe sang there.

My favourite Mecca was the Manchester Road Mechanics, so perhaps I am older than you.
