Local history books retirement give-away
If you or your members on the look out for local history books which can help you with your research, then have a look now at the Local History Online Bookshop at
www.local-history.co.uk/acatalog/index.html.
After over twenty years of selling essential local history books to local and family historians, the owners of The Local History Press are retiring and we want to say 'thank you' to all our past customers and contributors by giving everyone chance to buy our remaining local history books at never to be repeated prices. If you go to
www.local-history.co.uk/acatalog/index.html you can snap up one of our retirement 'thank you' bargains for yourself whilst stocks last. The sale will end on 11 December 2009 at the latest.
The business was started in 1984 by Susan Griffiths and Robert Howard, who were joined by Barbara Hornby in 1999. All three of us have been, and remain, active local historians in some way. Until 2004, we owned and published Local History Magazine, when Brewin Books in the West Midlands took it over. We continued as editors until 2006 and still provide most of the news which appears in the magazine, but this will come to an end in December 2009, after over twenty-five years.
We have already started to sell some of our personal local history books online via Amazon and we will be adding other local history books after we have retired, so if you get any money for Christmas, make sure you visit our new personal local history books list at
www.amazon.co.uk/shops/promenade_books (where we already have a small selection of books listed).
Best wishes
Susan Griffiths, Barbara Hornby & Robert Howard
