Had an e mail today about my book which I pre ordered from Amazon, saying I would not be receiving it yet as stated, as there is a delay in obtaining stock, is this a regular thing with Roger's books.......

It's a common thing with Amazon orders.

I thought they had changed their policies. At one time, they would list a book and you were able to order it despite there being no known stock anywhere. They would send an update email after a while saying they were unable to locate a copy. Not heard of it happening for quite some time but it was only ever with out of print books. There was a conversation about it on the One Guy forum a couple of years ago when someone had ordered a copy of a book on Newchurch in Pendle or Roughlee - that area.
I've not heard of the book you ordered....if it was a new one then I would think it would also be available from Badger books. I'm guessing it's from way back. Is there an ISBN number? Google it Stephanie, you might find something on Alibris or Abebooks. Both are sites I have used often.

They have given me a new date of the 11th Mel, so I will see what happens.

The 11th Mel? Is that some sort of leap month/leap year thing? :)

My book arrived today from Amazon, produced by Roger Frost and Ian Thompson, it's a new book published for the first time this year, it's super. It is a profusely illustrated local history book of both historic and new photographs, so you can compare Burnley as it is now to how it was many years ago, a lot of the photographs I have'nt seen before. It has a selection of more than 180 photo's showing how many ways Burnley has changed over the last centuary, along with the photo's is a written history of each area. I'm sure I will look at this book frequently as a reference book and also as an interesting read.

I am aware of this book but I didn't know what the title would be. I also wasn't expecting it until the summer!
