Do you have a smell or taste that brings back a memory? Battenburg cake does it for me. We were clearing my Nans bungalow when she had to go into residential care. Mum found a battenburg and gave me a slice. I think it must have been before the 'best before' dates were printed on packaging and it was almost certainly out of date but I've no idea by how much. I love battenburg but I've never had one as nice as that one was. |

When I was little if I was poorly at any time my Mum would give me Tomato soup (only Heinz will do) with bread and butter soldiers. To this day if I ever feel off colour I still have Tomato soup with bread and butter, it evokes happy memories of my Mum for me. Stephanie. |

Black puddings on Burnley Open Market, in the rain!! trying to shelter from the rain running off the canvas top on the stall and down our necks. Candy floss sticking to my face in a high wind and blackpool rock making me a frequent visitor to the dentist. My cousin in US has no idea what the sticks of 'candy' were that her Grandma, carefully carried home after her visit to the 'old country'. Wagon Wheels, they seem to make them smaller now??? French scented cigarettes, no I don't smoke, but remind me of holidays in France. |

Estee Lauder White Linen. Takes me back to my early 30s and the best friend I ever had but now have little contact with. Maybe I should do something about that . . . |

Pagan, Fresha, Coty L'aimant and Helena Rubinstein's Apple Blossom. I still think of the black puddings especially the fatty ones with lots of hot mustard. Yum ! Not forgetting the tripe stall either. |
