Stephanie, thank you for drawing attention to this site. I read some of the other articles and one that's especially interesting to me is 'Street had 15 cotton firms.' It describes Elm St., mentions the Daneshouse mill where some members of my family worked, and there's an old photo as well.

I worked at John Spencer's, Queens cotton mill which was on New Hall street for a couple of years before going to work for the Prestige group on Colne Rd when things got tough. The name was Platers and Stampers before being renamed The Prestige Group.
