My mother, along with many others, used to work in the mill at Lane Bottom. Because of the noisy machinery they would mime to each other. This became a habit, and even when they weren't working they would still 'chat' this way. I used to get frustrated because I wasn't quick enough to work out what they were saying. Mmmmm! Maybe that's why they did it!!!

Ha Ha - nice one Mel!! They used to wear cross-over pinnies and have scarves tied on their heads too, so Les Dawson got it spot on!!!
