I have managed to publish one of the articles by Rowland Kippax. I hope to add more when Lyndon has time to allow the function!

My dad was tickled to pieces when I read this to him....where can I find more of these stories? I know you said you'd found one on e-bay....can one order any from the publisher?

I have several more that Gloria lent to me Sue, I just can't get them onto the site until Lyndon can alter the layout of the page they will be stored on. He's snowed under with real work at the moment and putting in some long days (19 hours!) so I haven't pestered him for it too much. I'll have a little nag at him this weekend, I have 2 that are transcribed and ready to go.

I'm hoping the poem book will arrive in the next day or so.

Did you show your Dad the rest of the pictures on the spider web Sue?

Hi Sue, Th'owd Syker wrote loads for the Burnley Express in the format of dialect poems and articles. He had two paper back books published with the poems in the 1970's, and the publisher was John Pomfret and Son, Burnley. I don't know if the publishers still exist, or if they would have any left, I know Th'owd Syker didn't.

Hi Mel.
_____________

Tommy's Prize Pullet. The last paragraph FOUR SONS

Pickles (West) was my Great Grand dad, but I never knew he was called "Mac".

My Grand dad was Walter, and reading this, I now remember him being called "Tinker" ( "Where's Tinker gone" I can hear it now).

Uncle Herbert, I now remember him being called "Wootton".

I never knew John or Alban.

I don't know why they were given these names but this has really brought
memory's back.
__________
jack

Walter also kept hens.

This makes adding the articles all the more worth while. To know someone can connect with what Th'Owd Syker wrote is fantastic!

My gt grandad James Kippax is on the brass band pic.
He also played for Irwell Springs and on 24th March 1927 at Knowsley Hall home of Lord Derby, they played for the King, who stayed there before he went to watch the Grand National the day after. This was their 3rd royal command performance.
