To accommodate the extension, the company leased a plot of land totalling some 8000 square yards at an annual rent of £41-8s0d (£41.40); and on 5 June they appointed Benjamin Taylor, of Brierfield, as Clerk of Works, at 30 shillings (£1.50) a week.
