Hi Everyone. Was just wondering .... how much does it cost for you to acquire a birth/death/marriage cert from the registry or wherever? (in Euro/Pound stirling) All up I pay from NZ something like 60 - 70 NZ Dollars per certificate. This can be a costly mistake if you've got the wrong person!
Was just thinking about alternatives.
Many thanks

Glenys

Current cost is £7 and you can order online (direct, no need to go through any sites offering certificate services) at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

You do need to know the GRO reference which you can find either through ancestry.com (charges may apply) or http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

I received a certificate yesterday that I ordered online, wrong one, unfortunately, but the service is quick. It arrived about two weeks after my order was placed. I believe that they will check the reference for you for an extra payment but you'd need to see the site to be sure of that.

I requested a certificate from the Lancs Registrar's Office (no extra charge via LancashireBMD, http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/ ) and had my cheque returned because they had checked and I had the wrong person. So all it cost me was the postage. Very good service, I thought, though there's not total coverage of all years and areas.
