I have just discovered that I have been tracing somebody else's tree back to 1580!!! Misinformed about the name of an ancestors wife How can I find a record of John Thistlethwaite m. Susannah. son George, born 1742. Can't find them on Family Search but believe John died in 1777. The Airton Quakers may be the link but I can't get into the website query page. There are Thistlethwaites listed in the village how do I check the namesHELP PLEASE The info. for the parents was on I G , whatever that is? |

Thanks Gloria, but the George at Rylstone is the wrong one , as far as we know, no other trace of them, archives in Yorkshire have looked. Will explore the man who died in Settle, but there appear to be a huge tribe who all lived close to each other and of course shared names, |

Hannah, what info do you have for George? Is he the one you believed was born in Newchurch in Pendle? |

Yes Mel, we have worked forward and traced many, many decendants, I have checked at Preston and the name does not occur before George appeared, so he must have migrated from the yorkshire tribe, but which branch is the problem. I have traced a John and Margaret of the right age but now discover they were Quakers and the eldest child was born in 1745, the year after their wedding.I have their history going back to 1580, any offer from Ebay for a family tree would be accepted!! But seriously, all I do know is that George and his wife Tabitha had at least one son, John, and possibly a daughter called Susannah. |

I think....don't quote me...there may be some Quaker records in Burnley library. I am almost certain I looked at some when I was there with Kris earlier in the year. They covered a large area and not just Burnley. I remember seeing Manchester mentioned. I don't think I dreamt it. Worth a look? |

I have been told that Brotherton Library has a site for Quaker records in Airton, which may be where they are buried, but everytime I type the details in, the original page pops up again, unaswered. Maybe I have left my brain in neutral, try again another day? |

What is the link to the search site Hannah? Is this it? http://brs.leeds.ac.uk/cgi-bin/brs_engi ... 0&*DB=QUAK I was having the same problem.....goes back to the blank search page after you hit the 'search' button. That to me would be the obvious one to click. However, put the details in the search and then click 'submit query'. Not the most obvious way to conduct a search! I also found a page that gave a bit of info via google but went to http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk for searches. I searched for George but there was nothing. |

Hi Hannah, There has been a bit of an update on http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/ Know this doesn't help with trying to find John and Susannah's marriage, but second burial could possibly be her, don't know where John is though. Thanks Patricia, you've made my day! I've been shifting compost,I know it's raining, but it helped with the frustration. Some of these bits I had off the old search, but the new update might give us clues to tie in with other info. I'll do the hot bath and painkillers and then sit and join up things. Who needs computer games with a family tree as chaotic as mine. Looks as if George's mother came 'over the border' to join him as her husband had probably died back 'wherever they lived' so they weren't Quakers after all. It is a slow tedious process but with help I will get there. Mel, I took your advice, sent letter and SAE to the others, no reply, so as far as I'm concerned they don't know what they are missing, they are the weakest link,as another wellknown person says. |

Hey ho, at least you won't be left thinking 'what if' now. p.s. you're not the only one wuth chaotic families but you might be the only one mad enough to shift compost in the rain, especially if it's anything like the rain we have had here! |
