Hi, for more than 65 years I've had two pictures of The Pendle Beacon that my Granddad helped to build it, then it was set alight, can anyone throw any light on this and the date sorry about the pun I think it was for The King & Queens Coronation or The Silver Jubilee I sent the pictures to Mel to upload I have promised the original pictures to Mike Townend for The Townley Archive. Cliff.

I though it was for the silver jubilee. Were they not lit all over the country, and each was lit when they saw the preceding one on fire? If I remember rightly it all started on the south coast.

I have just looked at the photos and I am wrong it is way before the jubilee.
The one in the link below is for the coronation of George V June 22nd 1911-----so I think that is what the Pendle one was for.

I have changed the home page image to the building the Beacon image. You never know, it might generate a response.
