 I seem to have got lost! I'm sure I followed a link from the Society which took me to a list of burials to Burnley Cemetry.
Today, I can't find it????

There were list of all the burials?

I found my missing Annie Eastwood died 1959 age 87, the age matches  but the only James (her Husband born the same year as Annie 1872) was not listed ,just a James who died in 1931 age 66?

Have I had too much sun or is this web page that I have never seen before, somewhere that I have missed??

Anyone any ideas?

I think I went via OPC?

Hannah, they are on OPC, go to Burnley, go to registers, tab down to Cemetery right at the bottom and there are burials.

Thanks Gloria, it just shows that I should not do this late, when I'm tired.

Pity the new program on ITV only finds your living relatives :( I could keep them busy for awhile.

Happy Easter.

Hi,

If your James died between 1940 and 1948 then he won`t be listed in Burnley Cemetery on the OPC as these years are still not indexed online. I really wish I had seen this earlier as I took the dog for a walk in the cemetery today and I could have looked for a headstone if they had one.

If you would like me to look the next time I go let me know. Just confirm that the grave number is A6590.

Regards,
Mo

Can I be cheeky Mo and take you up on that offer please?

I have William Thomas and Lily Bamber buried grave number NE6444. He died in 1938 and she in 1950. It would be great to know if there is a stone.

Thanks in advance....

:P Hi and thanks, yes Annie is in A6590 and it would seem logical that her husband should be in there as well, but, is anything ever logical in this addiction of ours?

Anytime will do for the hunt, I have been trying to find this couple for three years and am baffled that I know where the other 6 children went, and their parents, but can't find the eldest. Why do we do it :?: Yes I know, it is fun and satisfying, if things are on a roll.

Looking forward to what you dig up  I could have put that better I know.

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that the missing years of 1940 - 48 for Burnley Cemetery are now online on the OPC. The downside is that there is no James that matches

The dog will still be taking me for a walk around the Cemetery tomorrow, so I will see what I can find.

Regards,
Mo

Hi,

Well it was quite windy in the cemetery today :)

Hannah, sadly there is no headstone for Annie Eastwood.

Mel, There is a headstone for William Thomas and Lily Bamber and I did get a photo which I will send to you.

Regards,
Mo

Thanks Mo, I suppose I need to check electoral registers for the address that was given to see who she was living with when she died.

I did think about you in the bracing wind  (as I chased my washing down the garden) it was very kind of you to try for me.

Hi,

Annie appears to be buried with her parents and sister, but you probably already know that:

William Holden 21 Tunstall Street aged 76 buried 29th August, 1921
Margery Holden 21 Tunstall Street aged 86 buried 1st September, 1932
Alice Ann Holden, Tunstall Street aged 84 buried 17 December, 1958

:D Ah! No I didn't expect that. I have also forgotten what my great uncle's wife was called before they got married?

I will have to sift through the records, when I find them again, and see if I ever did know her maiden name, possibly not or it may be the wrong lady

Thanks yet again for all the trouble you went to, Hannah

Hi Mo, checked my records and my Annie seems to be born in Clitheroe? Can't find a record of her maiden name ( as I expected!!!)
Will plod on tho'.

As you somehow managed to trace the occupants of the grave, could you possibly check someone who may be her daughter? If it doesn't involve a windy walk that is :?
OPC has a Florrie Eastwood died 20th Oct 1975 age 84 and living at Murray St ( not far from where this Annie was), the age is a couple of years out but I had imagined she married and I would never find her.

Who needs Nintendo and Brain Trainer when we can do this :)

:) Anyone with access to BMD? I'm trying to cut back on my spending on these websites.

I think I may have found my missing James Eastwood. Someone who is a close match died March 1952.

The Annie ( his wife born the same year) does seem to match the one that you found Mo. There is a record of both a James and an Annie married in Burnley on 8c 346.

Sorry if seem to be a scrooge but these sites are expensive if you only want one bit off them.

Thanks Hannah
