I tried loading the HEAP trees, but no success. The same applied to one or two other trees, but not all.

Another point, again !

John HEAP and Betty SMITH married by licence. The marriage bond can be seen on Familysearch. I can't read John's residence for sure, but it is a place in Burnley, that might mean township or the wider chapelry, including Briercliffe+Extwistle. It might be New House, near Coldwell.

More on John son of Solomon and Grace : they had a second son named John in 1777, so the 1767 one cannot be the one marrying in 1790.

Looking again at the marriage bond I mentioned, I am sure that for John the residence is New House in Burnley, even though that place is in Briercliffe/Extwistle township, not Burnley township.

Hi Rex, are you referring to the trees on the main site?

Yes, Mel. None of the ones down to the two SHOESMITH ones will load, but the later ones do. That's on this Kindle Fire, I haven't tried my laptop.

OK, thanks Rex. I've had a quick look. I think my security certificate has expired - I get a message when I try to open them. I'll get the bloke to deal with it. :)

All sorted now - wasn't the security certificate. I hadn't updated the links to https:// when the s became a thing. There will undoubtedly be other links across the site that will have the same issue.

It has also highlighted a problem with ' across the site. They will be displaying as an odd character for some reason.

We are so overdue for a revamp Gloria. The grooming/walking business is keeping me busier than I ever expected! As well as life of course :?

I'm hoping Lyndon can do a conversion rather than me doing it all manually as I have been trying to do

Most appreciated Mel, you do a good job to keep this site live.

Yes, indeed !

It is so enjoyable for exiles like me, especially of less tender years, to keep up with our roots. Even though in my case I lived in the top end of Burnley, not in Briercliffe.

So keep up the good work, Mel, notwithstanding dog walking etc !
