Post subject:  Walter Grimshaw 1886-1947

I'm seeking information about Walter Grimshaw. He arrived in Briercliffe in 1903, when he married Ann Rebecca Nixon. They had a son Walter in 1904, and two twin sons in 1920 who died same year. The family lived in Briercliffe all their lives, working as weavers and in labouring.

Walter senior died in 1947 at 8 Cross Street. His wife, Ann, died in 1933 at 41 Burnley Road, and Walter junior married Alice Smellie and then Jean Durkin, and died also at 8 Cross Street in 1972.

I'm specifically looking for information as to his WW1 activity. His home address in 1914 was 33 Burnley Street. I am unable to locate any military records, although he would have been 29yo at the start of the war.

Any help, suggestions would be very grateful, Stephen
