The name, PARKINSONS, has been associated for a large number of years with the Pills of various kinds which have been manufactured by them. There is hardly a corner in England where these - and other - family medicaments manufactured by PARKINSONS are not in daily use, and the reputation for the quality of their preparations has been carried even to the remotest corners of the globe.
In industrial areas especially, the name PARKINSONS has become a household word. Before the days of panel doctors and panel chemists, the medicines prepared by Parkinsons were among the few well-known reliable preparations found in the medicine chests of working-class homes. PARKINSONS, in fact, were the pioneers of family medicines, which they have continued to manufacture for nearly 80 years.
The founder of the firm was Mr. Richard Parkinson, who began business as a Chemist and Drysalter in the year 1848.
With the increasing popularity of the products manufactured by the founder, the growth of the business necessitated removal to larger premises, and again finding these premises too small for his purpose another building was acquired in Hammerton Street, Burnley.
The fourth generation is now taking an active part in the control of the business, being represented by Mr. Cyril Parkinson, M.P.S., and Mr. A. R. Parkinson, B.Sc.
