The most dangerous cake recipe

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

a small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

You are going to print this out straight away, aren't you.

Does it need to be a big mug?

Ordinary coffee mug size as far as I know. I haven't given it a go yet myself, waiting for somebody else to take the plunge first. :)

It's ion the microwave now. :?

I used a jug instead of a mug - just in case!

A mug would work, I'd probably use a pudding bowl next time. It is more like a pudding type sponge than a 'cake'.
Think I would drop chunks of galaxy in and not choc chips in the hope of them turning a bit gooey (I didn't have any choc hips in). Definitely enough for 2.

Top tip of the day - make some custard while it is in the microwave.

It is dangerous!!!!!!!

Just tried it cold - it doesn't taste too bad really.

I used to make cakes in the microwave years ago but when it matters the proper oven's better. HOWEVER. In a cake emergency, this sounds good.
I did find that the bottom of microwave cakes could be a bit wet. What I did was put a layer of kitchen paper in the bottom of the container, covered by a layer of greaseproof. It soaked up the excess liquid quite well.

It definitely needs custard - maybe advocaat custard?

Yuck. I have a good recipe tho for chocolate fudge sauce that you can make in the microwave in quite quickly. Add a bit of grated orange rind for a change.

Orange would go well in the cake - needs something....

We are having chocolate cake on Sunday (see post on anything goes) in celebration/commiseration, but not the microwave method one, I will have to try that one at a later date, doesn't sound like it turned out too bad though.
