Does anyone remember having 'pobbies' for breakfast? It's broken pieces of bread with sugar and warm milk poured over. As a child I used to have them every morning and loved it. However, a few years ago I thought I'd try it again . . . . .yuk yuk . . . . couldn't eat it! Oddly enough I love bread and butter pudding!! |

They were fed to babies to wean them onto solids. |

Ah - didn't know that Gloria, thanks. Did wonder if it was due to a shortage of cereal rations or something. |

I remember pobs. Used to get them if I was sick. Loved them...and such a good way to get rid of 2 day old bread! Broken up bread, warm milk, and a drizzle of Tate and Lyle's syrup. |

My mother-in-law was a fan. To be honest the thought of it makes my stomach churn. |

We had it when we were sick and I loved it. It was easy to eat, very warm and sweet and comforting. We called it simply bread 'n milk. I never heard pf pobbies until I met my husband, who was from near Nottingham. Joan |

When I was a child in Colne my dad used to eat what you are calling pobbies - but he called them 'sops' and ate them for supper. Ruth |
