I've posted the details now under marriages. It hasn't really helped me yet tho. I'm trying to trace the Thomas Pilkington who was the father of Joseph Pilkington (1854-1880).
Joseph Pilkington married Mary Phillips. Their daughter Sarah Jane married James Leaver.
So that would make Thomas Pilkington 3xg'grandfather to you and to my children.

I just looked at the marriages you mention. I never thought to look there because it's a Catholic church. Just goes to show you should't make assumptions.
Now all we have to do is bridge the gap between what we've got and what you've found. Just an odd 150 years or so. :(

150 years is a huge gap but I am sure they are related. Anyhow, it is interesting to note there were Leaver's (same spelling), living in the area way back in the 16th century and before.

Did you notice there are no Levers? It reinforces what I always thought - that the odd Lever we have is a mis-spelling and that the Levers are a different strain.
