We have a couple of Leaver families that lived at Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

There are others, so I am making a list.

Wilmot Henry Leaver (1883)
John Orrell Leaver (1884)
Wilmot and John are the children of James Leaver (1857-1928) and Sarah Jane Coates (1861-1919)

Hartley (Smith) Leaver (1859)
Son of John Leaver (1833-1906) and Margaret Smith (1836-1903)

For what it is worth, I was born in Providence, Rhode Island. My grandfather, Robert Townley, along with his mother and brothers and sisters emigrated to Rhode Island in 1909-1910. According to my mother there was quite a concentration of English immigrants in the Central Falls-Pawtucket area (cheeck by jowel to Providence). So, if anyone has any Rhode Island questions, I might be able to assist.

Hi,
welcome to the site. Was your grandfather, Robert Townley, one of the Townleys from Burnley?

Gloria: Although there could be some very distant connection to the Townleys of Burnley, my grandfather, Robert Townley was born in Accrington (1894), as did his father Richard Townley (1863). My research indicates that my Townleys were in Chipping-Blackburn-Preston-Accrington during the 1800s, but who knows before that. Brad
