Well hello, I think you are the first relative on that side that I have had contact with since starting my tree. Exciting!!
My Marsden part of my tree is on the home page under family trees, but it probably won't be up to date.
How to you come down from Samuel Herbert Marsden? And how much further have you got?

I'm trying to establish Thomas' wife Elizabeth's maiden name. I think it may be Bradbury.

I agree with Elizabeth Bradbury as I cannot see it being any other at this point, but haven't managed to prove it, saying that when getting that far back it becomes more difficult. That's what makes this fun???

William Herbert Marsden, my grandfather, 1896-1978, lived for quite a while in Nelson. Mum was born in 1925 in Burnley Bank Hall hospital, so he was there then, they moved (Grandad and Nanny) to Staining near Blackpool in about 1958. We were always led to believe Grandad had relatives in the Nelson area but didn't have contact with them for some "we don't talk about it" reason.

So typical of families eh?

Last surviving Marsden males in the Pendle area are my Dad's younger brother Alan and my brother Terry. (As far as I'm aware)

I'd love to see your family tree but no idea how to find it. This site is not easy to use, especially on a tablet.

Have just been scanning through the 1851 Blackburn census and found the following good local name:

Nelson Marsden, age 25, a furnace tenter, born Lancs, Hoghton

That's a good one.

I went to Marsden Junior School in Nelson, which used to be called Great Marsden. There was also Little Marsden. :D

I wish our Marsden didn't originate in Cheshire, although Stockport used to be Lancs. Lancashire OPC site would have taken us back a lot further. All my branches end abruptly in the 1790s.
