Post subject:  Family surname of Banks

Any body related to or know anything about a family last known at 18 Jubilee St in 1900. It would be John and Margaret, but I believe the family of John had been in Briercliffe for at least two generations going back and were all tailors.

thanks, Hannah

Hi Hannah,
do you want info on him going backwards or forwards?

Hi Gloria, I know they were tailors and I suppose I wondered if there were any people decendents from the family still living around the area.

They seemed quite 'well to do' I found a ref. to Jon Banks having some sort of connection to one of the mills and he is described as 'living off his own means' in about 1900  how do you achieve that?

I've had that with people "up syke" and thought maybe they were shop owners or part mill owners, but a lot of the time it says that. Could be they were elderly and not living on the parish, thereby living off their own means-----just a thought.
