Preston Chronicle Saturday Dec 4 1841 Preston Intermediate Sessions Catherine Manging, 31, (n.,) charged with stealing at Burnley, one shawl, and three dozen yards of lace, the property of Samuel Smallpage and another; and six yards of lace, the property of Oates Sagar; and eighteen yards of lace, the propertyof Richard Sagar. There were tow bills against this prisoner.-Three months' imprisonment. Richard Sutcliffe, 26, (n.,) charged with stealing at Burnley, ten sacks, the property of Martha Dynn. This prisoner, in arrest of judgement, said he was driven to it by hunger and starvation. He had, however, been twice before convicted.-Seven years' transportation. John Rushton, 16, (r.,) and Henry Walton, 34, (n.,) charged with stealing at Marsden, seven hens and one cock, the property of James Halstead; and also with stealing at Foulridge, eight hens and five chickens, the property of John Hutchinson. Rushton stood further charged with stealing at Barrowford Booths, ten hens and ten chickens, the property of Christopher Wood.-Rushton seven yrs'. transportation, and Walton six months' imp. William Hartley, 40, (n.,) and Ridehalgh Thornley, 29, (r.,) charged with breaking and entering a warehouse at Great and Little Marsden, and stealing thereout fifty pounds weight of wool and fifty wool tops, the property of William Ecroyd.-Hartley ten yrs'., and Thornley fiftenn yrs'. trans. Reginald Clegg, 31, (r. and w. imp.,) for leaving his wife and children chargeable to the township of Burnley.-Six months' imp. Lancaster Castle. |
