This is a really long shot but you never know, someone on here may have secret talents that don't come up in Briercliffe conversations!

I'd like to (one day) trace the history of a property in France. Does anyone have any experience of french archives? The property is in the Lot Valley.
When we bought the house over there, we were told that it first appeared on a census in 1750 but could have been standing for much longer. I'd love to find out who has been there before us and what the property was like.
For now this is just one of things I wonder about but I'd like to think that I will eventually know more about the house that gives Lyndon and I so much pleasure.
If anyone can point me in any direction, I'd be very greatful.
