I wasn't really very sure where to start this topic but this perhaps fits the bill..

Plaques asked me for a copy of the image on the website that shows the view of Burnley from Slaters Clock. This is the original image. http://briercliffesociety.co.uk/Photo%2 ... rnley1.htm

He has a been a very busy bee and very kindly labelled various landmarks/buildings that can be seen in the view. His labelled image can be found at this link. http://briercliffesociety.co.uk/Photo%2 ... 0Clock.htm

That is brilliant. Thanks to Plaques for doing it, and Mel for putting it on here.

That's really good - thanks. But to show my ignorance, what & where is Slater's Clock? :(

"Slaters Clock" was the clock on what was evenutally known as Clock Tower Mill. The mill was built by George Slater in the 1840`s. I think the clock tower was added some twently odd years later. It is shown on images 4 and 9 on here:

Oops I forgot to mention it was on Sandygate - on the left hand side if you were heading towards Trafalgar Street.

Wow, thanks again for this. What a sad loss the market hall was, lovely building. I used to work near the bottom of Standish Street in the early 60's and went in the market hall and on the surrounding market (which I think was tues and friday).
They say if you lived through the 60's you don't remember it---well I remember the market hall.
