My family used to live at no 2 North Street. At the end of the street were the fields belonging to Maurice Binns, our milkman. I believe there is a housing estate there now. My enquiry is about a large hut at the end of our street which I believe was called the Happy Cott. Are there any photos in existence of this hut. As kids we use to collect cigarette packets from underneath the building to play a game with.. There was always a heap of ashes ( coke ) outside of the entrance and we used to find pennies in it.

There used to be an allotment next to Happy Cott owned by an old man called Rufus. He kept hens on it. He lived next door to us on North Street. He had a relative ( maybe his daughter ) who lived In Java, Indonesia. They had a little girl my age, about 5 years old called Marion Halstead. She was the very first girl I fell in love with :) hahaha I wonder what happened to her.......ah well!

Mentioned in Roger Frost's book. Officially called 'The Central Club', built 1900. No picture I'm afraid.
