I'm with Gloria on this one. Drove by Extwistle Hall this afternoon. It was dark and brooding under a grey leaden sky - just like Heathcliffe in one of his sombre moods. Wonderful!!!
Pollyanna. (Extwistle Hall fanatic!)

So are you all going to form a team with me to do a restoration on EH when I am rich?
Promise you can come to the opening ceremony and do a ghost hunt.

I would love to buy it, but it would take a fortune to renovate. I don't even know who owns it now.

Here's an idea. Just borrow the money (borrowed from winnings, inheritence, benevolent patron or raised funds) just to purchase, solidify and make safe the ruins just as they are. Then...have a special concert or Bronte readings or something to get some media attention. Then...someone spots some ghostie running around...and gets some more media attention. Then....charge admission for folk to come and explore the haunted ruins!! Then ....pay off the debt.
They travel from far and wide to 'see' Nessie'...or Pendle Witch Country, or Haworth...how about the Extwistle Hall Ghosts Family? :?:

You have to start somewhere Glenys!

Joking aside, it would be a dream come true.

I went nosing around it once years ago. Parked the car on the lane, pouring with rain, dark and dismal. We were peering through windows, seeing nothing when we heard a noise, we practically necked ourselves running away.

It was really funny. It was just one of those days, we were driving past and thought "should we", and we did. It was wet and slippy, so I nearly went flat on the flags round the house. I am sure there were chickens living there, and certainly in our imagination someone was inside. This would have been in the early 80's. Did anyone use it for anything then? There used to be a guy at Proctor Cote who kept horses, I think his daughter used to ride. How long have you been there David?
