I used an expression to Kris that he'd never heard of before. So I asked a couple of other people and they haven't either.
Has anyone ever heard the expression "bunfight" for a sort of tea party? Or have I made it up?

Oh I've heard that ---bunfight---but I think it means a bit of a scrum for something--ie at a buffet meal, no order or queue---a bunfight.

If you'd ever been to any of our family "do"s you'd know that just about fits.

Honest I'm not, have you never heard me say that?????
If you ever have to rummage for anything, as in loads of people after one thing in a sale, it's a right bunfight----------------------I think it is a typical Briercliffe saying, I can remember my Grandad saying it

Mel, visualise any big store opening it's doors on closing down/sale day, everything must go, rock bottom prices, then that would be a bunfight.

Well put Stephanie. I thought it was quite a common term. Obviously known only to us common northerners

Sounds like the first day of the Next sale - something I avoid like the plague.

Must be a northern term, never heard of it. I'll ask Mum if she has when we get back tomorrow, I wonder if my Nan ever used it?

It might be applied to anything that's a bit of a scrummage, but I'm sure it's properly to do with food.
Anyway, I asked imindoors last night and he's eard of it too - tho he might have got it off me and my mum
