My in-laws used to talk about childer rather than children. Also, when talking about a (named) child, my mother-in-law & her sisters would often say "it", rather han he/ she or him/her. |

There is a well-known dialect poem by Samuel Laycock ; 'Come whoam (home) to thi childer and me', addressed to a wayward husband ! Rex |
