Sweating cobs, definitely a phrase I remember very well, and still use on occasion in our humid summers. Does anyone else remember boiled eggs being referred to as 'chucky eggs?' Chucky was also a term of endearment, usually used by an adult to a child, as were chicken, and lovey.

Chucky eggs - I had chucky eggs as a child.

They call everyone duck around here - I hate being called duck to the extent that I completely ignore the person saying it.

You get 'duck' all over Lincs and I think much of the midlands. But not here in South Cambs.

Here you might get 'my love', a bit like Bruce Forsyth !
