When you are trainspotting (used to be down Barden in my case, and when trains were trains, dirty and noisy), if you saw an engine you hadn't seen before, then you 'copped' it. In fact you underlined it in the Ian Allen guides, LMS region in our case.

Actually, if you stood on Heald bridge, where the road from Barden pit crossed the railway, you also had the pleasure of the equally noisy and dirty coal lorries !

There, you see, I don't quite go back to pre-nationalisation. Of course we are post-nationalisation now.

Rex, I grew up on Dane Street in Burnley, we lived in the bottom house right next to the railway lines. The noise took some getting used to but after a while we never even noticed them, saying that I love a steam train, they used to be shuntting all night long, saying that I love a steam train, the soot and the smell, hah! nectar.

Do you also remember the jinny-wagon track, coming from Bank Hall, or maybe Clifton colliery ?

I dont Rex, I should do though because my Gran and Grandad lived on Browhead Road until I was about 8, which as you probably know was opposite Bank Hall pit. Would'nt it be good if we could all be hypnotised and taken back to our early years and record everything that we have forgotten.

I would love to be regressed. I have been hypnotised, a few years ago now and it was quite an experience. Regression though is slightly different - can anyone recommend someone to do it?

I'll come with you Mel, I would love to be regressed. Do we know anyone who does it?

If you long on that e mail address and go to the therapy listings there is one therapy called The Inner Child, that sounds like the one.

Reading all of it, it sounds a bit too deep, I think it would benefit people with emotional problems, not people such as us, who are just curious about hidden childhood memories to help us with our research.

It was interesting all the same, especially the bit about close friends and relatives being there is the past life. And, where you are told to look into the eyes of the person close to you to see if you recognise them in the here and now. Don't know how I would feel about that, would be a bit odd to find out my dad in an earlier life is now my O.H. :?

Going back (no pun intended) to "to cop", I remember the term to "cop off" meaning to get off with someone.

It would probably be wise to go to some professional organisation for the 'practitioners' and find someone registered with them but thats a thought for another day.

Gloria - everytime I see the topic title I think about the meaning you just mentioned.

When were kids if we did owt wrong, we used to say 'by you'll cop it now', meaning we would get a lethering/good hiding, off our Mum or Dad.
