I don't know that this should be classed as local dialect but I don't really think it comes under glossary either! If I asked mum what was for tea, she'd tell me 'a kick up the pantry door' or 'a run around the kitchen table'. I'm guessing ours is not the only household to use such phrases. Has anyone got anymore or know where these come from? |

Also "duck and muffin" which I think was a sort of rhyming slang for 'nuffin' |

 Yes I remember the 'run away with a black man' thought it was only my gran's paranoia. She also described people as being a ' bit of a felli (felly)' Cocky, know it all and wants every one to know they are the experts, or did she speak an alien language.?
