How do you name these topographical features ?

Becks and gills (ghylls) in Yorks, Waters and cloughs in Lancs, broadly.

But......

In Barley recently I noticed Beckside. In Wycoller it is Wycoller Beck. Have a good look at a local map.

As a child in the 1950s I lived in Barrowford Road in Colne and spent many happy hours playing in what was commonly known as 'the Grammar School Beck' - I left Colne in 1961 and what was Colne Grammar School is now luxury flats ('imagine living in the Geography room', as one of my cousins once said!). Presumably the beck is still there but known by another name (perhaps its original or more correct one).
