 Post subject: Bankrupt (one of them)

Bankruptcy was not uncommon in Victorian times. The main source is newspapers.

My gt grandfather Charles TINDALL became bankrupt in Burnley in the 1890s. He had a small business as a pattern maker, on Vulcan St.

His father George suffered the same fate in the 1850s, he was a wheelwright in Lincolnshire. He moved to Rotherham and eventually had a joiner's business there.

Believe it or not, one of Charles' sons, a tailor, also became bankrupt !

I've stopped keeping my money under the bed, it's too tempting there......

Any more known family bankrupts out there ?
