Hi everyone,

my 4th great-grandparents were John Lord (1805-78) and Ellen Halstead (1806-94).

John was the son of John Lord (son of James Lord of Burnley), and Jenny (Jane) Windle (daughter of John Windle of Thornton).

On the banns of 1826 it is shown that John was a weaver living in Extwistle Hall and Ellen was from Hill End, Briercliffe.

From census records it appears that John was born in Embsay (he was baptised in Skipton) and Ellen was born in Pendle Forest.

Is there any way for me to determine whether John's parents were living at Extwistle Hall at the time or how a weaver came to be living there at the time? Also could Ellen have been an ancestor of William Halstead who appears to be the owner of Windle House? Is there perhaps even a link between Windle House and the family of Jenny Windle?

Are there any historians who may be able to provide more information?

Thank you.
