Election of Churchwardens.

On Easter Tuesday, the following gentlemen were duly elected churchwardens and sidesmen of the chapelry of
Burnley:- For Burnley, Mr. Jas. Eastham, warden, and Mr. Wm. Waddington, sidesman; for Habergham Eaves, Mr. Samuel Watson, warden, and Mr. Thomas Chaffer, sidesman; for Cliviger, Mr. Bernard Whitham, warden, and Mr. James Cryer, sidesman; for Warsthorn-with-Hurstwood, and Briercliffe-with-Entwistle, Mr. Wm. Smith, warden, and Mr. James Grey, sidesman. A protest was entered against the election of Messrs. Watson and Chaffer on behalf of the two rival candidates, Messrs. Roberts and Margerison. The meeting was one of the most stormy and unpleasant ever held.
