As a youngster I attended St James Church regularly. Having lived away for the past thirty odd years I decided to look up the old place on the internet. I had forgotten what a fine example of an early Victorian church we have. I was interested to find the following sentence in Wikkipeadia referring to the church - "In 1869 a new steeple was added to the church and other changes were made by Paley and Austin" I wonder if anyone can verify the accuracy of this statement and if so what happened to the original steeple?
