Yes Mel told me the same as you Gloria, but I can assure you it is still in the same place. I agree it needs to be preserved,it could easily be repaired by a stone mason by inserting steel pins to join the pieces back together. It could go on display maybe in Queen Street Mill.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, involves the recovery of Haggate stone. You may select any two team members, but it is essential that the third member of your team be Gloria. She is a civilian, and a highly capable professional thief. You have forty-eight hours to recruit Miss Gloria and meet me in London to receive your assignment. As always, should any member of your team be caught or killed, the Secretary Mel will disavow all knowledge of your actions. And Mr. David B, the next time you go on holiday, please be good enough to let us know where you're going. This message will self-destruct in five seconds.

Oh Yeah, imagine the politics about who owns the stone, who will pay for repair, who will want to retain ownership when it is restored, where will it be displayed etc etc etc.
Could be as lifetimes mission that lol
I would say that the people who should put things into motion are the Church as presumably the Church are the owners.?????

Yes Gloria, Roger did say it had been shipped off to North Wales with the rest of the demolished stonework to be recycled as someones new house.

Imagine my shock when David sent me that photograph about a week ago. It is definitely still sitting in the churchyard.

Doesn't it give the impression that people don't care?

David B, don’t you realize this is a public forum? You might have jeopardized the mission of two of our best agents! Haven’t you memorized the new code book, “holiday” is on page 396? Good grief, the spy world’s equal opportunities employment quota just isn’t working out.

Mel (code name, smelly melly), you are the secretary and David B (code name, pint of Boddingtons please) is a field op, obviously we cannot be using the same code books, what if one of our agents gets captured and “they” learn the codes?

Ok.I have e mailed the Stonemasons who repaired Reaps Cross on Heptonstall Moor a few years ago.I have attached a photo of the broken date stone and asked them first of all if it is feasible to repair and secondly what would be the approximate cost.
I will revert again when and if I get a response from them.
:)
