I came across this today. A foundation stone on the Baptist Chapel, Bradshaw St, Nelson. Currently standing empty there is a request to convert it into an Islamic school. Often these stones are lost in the process of any conversion, Islamic or otherwise.
Does the name Shoesmith mean anything to anybody?.

Bradshaw St was an offshoot of Haggate Baptist.

There is a grave of a Robert Shoesmith at Haggate, died aged 81 in 1944? Maybe the same man?

I can't recall any Shoesmith researchers on the site. I wonder what wil happen to the stone. Alwaysvsuch a shame when these things go missing

I guess we don't all value our history or the history of buidings in the same way. So sad
