Does anyone know what Whitehead & Leaver Ltd did? Was it a cotton manufacturer?

1914 is the last time we see Halstead Leaver, unless you have something more to add. I would like to find his death and place of burial.

Thanks Gloria. Halstead Leaver (1917-1994) is the nephew of Halstead Leaver (1881-?).

Kris, In answer to your Whitehead and Leaver, I cant find a cotton mill with that name, but their names are mentioned briefly in an article about Fulledge Mill where it says ' and Whitehead and Leaver had 345 looms stopped,' this was around the time of the great depression in the cotton trade. Wonder why I cant find a mill for them! I will have to keep digging.

Come on Kris! Halstead Leaver (1917-1994) was your gran's brother. And his mother was the infamous Sarah Jane Pilkington.

I have a copy of 'The Book' as we call it in our family, it is a little worse for wear now. It was 'aquired' by a great uncle who was a librarian at Burnley.

Barretts Directory of Burnley and District 1914

Cotton Manufacturers

Whitehead and Leaver Ltd, Rake head, and Fulledge mills
