I think I may have more of a time line now if Barcroft and Crabtree were in 336 Cone Rd and Cross St Nelson in 1896, Mary Ellen would have been 43? Her last addition may not not have arrived by then or be on the way? and with a family of grown up sons not too impressed with mum and dad's activity She may well have looked like she does.

Still puzzled by her costume. My grandmother was married in 1908 and her clothes were of a different era.

Did the photographer hire out 'posh' clothes I wonder??
