 Anyone come across the tradition of pulling a lock of hair on the 'victim' for the appropriate number of years, then the question is cock, hen ,goose or feather?
Cock involved a knock on the head (for luck???)
Hen, 'pull up the pen' or continue to yank your victims hair.
Goose, can't remember,
Feather, wish the victim good luck for ever.
Or do I come from a very weird family?? :?:

If your family is weird then so was ours, I remember that.

My friend still does this every year, which unfortunately when your in your 50's is a bit time consuming. Thankfully she has now condensed the years into tens.

Cock, give them a knock (on head)
Hen, do it again!
Goose, let loose. I remember that one
Feather, jolly good leather (slap on back), and good luck for ever.

We did hair tugging for birthdays but never with a rhyme.

We gave the bumps too.

 Thanks for the confirmation about the details, never remember to say feather in time! Disaster in the 60's with my piled up hair and an aunt who loved to give me the 'knock' before I had time to decide!! Glad she's not around this week or I would be bald and brain dead by now.

Forgotten about bumps, you spent the rest of the day at school nearly crippled because of someone dropping you. Those were the days. Wonder where these traditions came from? Wonder if they still do them, I'll have to ask my nephew. I suppose health and safety have put a stop to them as well.
