Can anyone help please? I can (hopefully) post the pictures mentioned but it won't be for another week as I do not have access to my storage hard drive. I have seen on your Youtube collection of 'Postcards of old Burnley and neighbourhood' several pictures of Simonstone. Although I have managed to identify two of them ('Simonstone' shows the Stork Hotel on the Whalley Road, and 'Whins Lane' shows Wicking Row), I would like to know the location of the other two, 'Pink Cottage, Trap Lane', and 'Trap Lane'. The latter is possibly the junction called Four Lane Ends. My ancestors lived at Trap, Simonstone during the 19th century; in 1861 their farm was called Duxburys. |

Haven't seen the photos yet so I'll see what I can find out when I've seen tehm. Meanwhile, Trapp Lane is the continuation of School Lane, which runs from Whalley Road towards Sabden. I think it becomes Trapp Lane just after the school. It crosses Whins Lane before the Higher Trapp Hotel. I'll check it out when I've seen the photos - if I don't know the answer I'm sure I'll know someone who does |

I've just had a look at teh one entitled 'Trap Lane'. I can't bring to mind a row of cottages on Trap Lane and to me it looks more like Whins Lane, with Trapp Lane running right to left across the picture |

Very interesting postcards, but I can't shed any light on the Pink Cottage. |

Just a thought....Duxbury seems to be an old Simonstone name so could the farm be owned by that family and not actually called that? And perhaps your ancestors rented it. |

Re. pink Cottage A friend who lives on Whins Lane ( which appears as Trapp Lane on the postcards) tells me that pink Cottage is on the road which crosses from what is now Whins Lane going towards the bypass, there is a garden centre on the road. She says that she recognised the Pink Cottage Barn and knows the people who live there, she also thinks that the original cottage is still standing. Will update if I find out more. |

Pink Cottage is now known as Trapp House. Located on Whins Lane just right of the junction with Trapp lane.

Well done Plaques. I remember that when we used to live in Altham. |

No wonder none of us could find it - we were looking on Trap Lane |
