A WARRINER ancestor migrated from upper Wharfedale to Colne about 1750. He was a lead miner in the Dales, and maybe became a coal miner in Colne/Marsden.

There is a possible Quaker involvement in the 1720s in Wensleydale, via TENNANT, very common in that area. The relevant records for that are at Northallerton, a long way from Cambridge !

I have never heard of that surname Rex, wonder if it changed to Warner/Warren as the years went by.

I've not spotted a single occurrence of it while I've been in the fiche today.

Sometimes WARRENER, and at times maybe 'shortened' to WARNER, but essentially an independent name I think.

Any of the name in NE lancs are likely to be related, I guess.

879 in 1881 (WARRINER) (WARRENER 515) ! Quite a lot to be found in or near Kendal. Just possibly my ancestor married in Lancaster. However it is found in some numbers in Wensleydale.

See the Colne registers.
