Joshua Nutter died on 12 September 1833. The entry in St. Peter's burial register reads, "Joshua Nutter, Rogram (sic) Gate, Extwistle, aged 66," placing his birth c1766/7. A Letter of Administration was granted to his widow, Jane, on 16 September. Jane made oath that Joshua left effects under 20 pounds. Joshua was a weaver.

Elizabeth, daughter of Joshua and Jane, was baptised at St. Peter's on 22 April 1821, making Joshua about 55 at the time of her baptism. Joshua was then a gamekeeper and the family lived at Royle, Burnley. There was another daughter, Ellen, whose baptism I don't have yet.

Elizabeth married John Todd on 4 January 1841 and was of full age. At the time of the 1841 census they lived at Roggerham Gate with Elizabeth's 2-year-old son. Jane and Ellen Nutter were also at Roggerham Gate. I've traced the Todd family but not this Nutter branch.

Hi Joan,
I think we have been this way before with your Joshua Nutter--the gamekeeper.
There are a couple of christenings on the LDS site which could be him, one with father named as John.
I have had a look in the Heptonstall baptisms for you but cannot see him there.

Thanks, Gloria. I hadn't thought to check Heptonstall. He could well be the son of John or Joshua and baptised at St. Peter's. I haven't found his marriage at St. Peter's but I need to widen the search to other churches.

Gamekeepers seem to feature in my ancestry, with Joshua and also Adam Nichol.
